Monthly Trumpet Rental

Our Full Terms & Conditions

  • ✺ Minimum Term

The minimum term of the standard rental service is 2 months. Instruments returned before the minimum term ends will result in the remainder of the minimum term being deducted from the holding deposit prior to its return.

  • ✺ Payments

Please note that this is not interest free payment plan, although we can offer up to a maximum of 3 months of rental towards the cost of a new instrument no more than this can be offered as we are not a registered lender.

Payments are taken on a rolling monthly cycle via Direct Debit using the GoCardless platform.

The first payment is due upon the date of instrument collection/delivery and all others intervals until either the customer concludes the rental agreement by returning the instrument, opting to purchase the instrument, or the service provider ends the agreement with the appropriate one month notice.

  • ✺ Security Deposit

A refundable deposit of £60 is taken by card in advance of the instrument being rented. This deposit is held until the rental agreement is concluded and will be refunded in full, less any deductions upon return or purchase of the instrument.

  • ✺ Insurance

All instruments are conditionally insured against damage which is included in the cost of the rental agreement. An excess payment equivalent to two months rent is payable upon all claims relating to damage & repair of the instrument. This insurance does *not* cover theft, loss or damage resulting from clear misuse of the instrument.

Lost or stolen instruments will need to be settled at full retail price, minus the holding deposit and paid excess.

Damage repair decisions are at the discretion of the staff member assessing the instrument.

Should the instrument require a repair taking longer than 2 working days a replacement instrument will be provided for the duration of the repair.

The customer is fully responsible for ensuring the instrument is not lost or stolen.

  • ✺ Consumables

Limited consumables are provided with each instrument, such as cork grease, reeds or valve oil. Customers can purchase additional consumables directly from us at a discounted rate should they run out during the period of rental.

All other consumables are the responsibility of the customer.

  • ✺ Rent-To-Buy

Please note that this is not interest free payment plan, although we can offer up to a maximum of 3 months of rental towards the cost of a new instrument no more than this can be offered as we are not a registered lender.

Customers on the standard rental scheme can opt to purchase their rented instrument at any time during their rental agreement after the minimum term has expired.

A discount off the purchase price equivalent to half the rental paid is provided for each month (a up to 6 months) that the instrument has been rented for.

    • Yes — damage insurance is included in the rental cost, conditionally.

    • For damage beyond normal wear, there is an excess equal to two months’ rent.

    • The insurance does not cover theft, loss, or misuse (i.e. damage caused by careless handling).

    • If you lose the instrument or it is stolen, you’ll have to pay the full retail price, with the holding deposit and any excess applied against that amount.

  • Your trumpet rental comes with basic support and consumables. Woodwind London provides limited consumables (such as valve oil or greases) included in the agreement.
If you run out or need extras, you can buy additional items from them (often at discounted rates).

  • Yes — after the minimum term, you can opt into their rent-to-buy scheme.
However, note: you will be buying a new instrument (not the same physical trumpet you were renting).
Woodwind London offers a discount: half of the rental paid (up to 6 months of rental) is deducted off the purchase price.

Also, you may be able to upgrade to a better model during your rental, paying the difference and additional deposit if necessary (subject to availability). (This is inferred from their general instrument-rental policy, although the trumpet page doesn’t explicitly mention “upgrade” terms.)
