Sell your instruments to us

We Buy and Sell Woodwind & Brass Instruments

We purchase clarinets, flutes, saxophones, and trumpets, subject to assessment. Other woodwind and brass instruments—such as oboes, bassoons, cornets, and French horns—may also be considered, depending on their condition and suitability. After assessing the instrument, we may determine whether one of the following options is suitable:

  • Sell your instrument directly to us for use in our instrument rental scheme, or

  • Sell it on commission, where we market your second hand instruments for sale on your behalf. For commission sales, payment is made 12 days after the sale to allow for a customer cooling-off period, and we take a 20% commission fee.

How It Works:

To get started, complete the assessment form below. We'll then arrange a convenient time to inspect your instrument. Instruments must be in playable condition, though they don’t need to be perfect. Cleaned and polished instruments generally sell faster and at a better price.

If any repairs are needed for a commission sale, we offer them at a discounted rate (50% off standard pricing).

If your instrument isn’t a fit for our program, we can help connect you with a Charity Donation Scheme that supports local authority music services and apprentices in training.

Why sell to us?

Environmentally friendly

We recondition and re-use all instruments we purchase. Most instruments join our musical instrument rental fleet, where they will be loved and played by the young musicians of tomorrow.

By providing reconditioned woodwind instruments to students, we reduce the environmental impact of cheap mass-produced instruments flooding the market as throw-away items.

Local business

As a local business in North London, you can visit us in person to immediately assess the condition and value of your instrument. There is no need to pay to ship your instrument to us and no risk of your instrument being rejected after sending.

While not every instrument we appraise is in the required condition for purchase, we pride ourselves in being open and honest about our assessment process and the price we are prepared to pay.

Selling Instruments - Frequently Asked Questions

  • It really depends on the specific item, but in general, instruments typically take between 6 to 12 months to sell.

Timing also plays a role—our busiest sales period is from September through March, and more instruments tend to sell during that time.

Instruments at the student to intermediate level usually sell the fastest, especially models commonly recommended by our local music teachers.

  • Musical Instruments are valued according to several metrics, including quality of workmanship, condition, rarity, provenance, and manufacturer.

If you’re looking for a quick estimate, you can check listings for similar instruments on platforms like eBay. For an accurate assessment, though, simply book an evaluation with us using the form above.

  • We require a form of photo Identity (either passport or driver’s license) and a proof of address before we will purchase any instrument.

  • Most local schools are happy to accept used instruments, but we can take care of that for you as well. We work with local boroughs and charities such as Barnet Education Arts Trust and Haringey Music Service, and are happy to donate your instrument on your behalf—free of charge.
